Anti – obese:

Catechin hydratein diabetic rate has shown to be beneficial in reducing obesity and in improving plasma parameters. (Mehra 2010)

Anti – cancer activity:

Catechin hydrate, possesses anticancer activity is based on the ability to induce apoptosis. It also suppressed the growth of breast cancer cells without significant toxicity, making it a promising chemotherapeutic agent for breast cancer treatment (Ali A., 2010).

Catechin hydrate and HIV-1:

In a formulation study catechin hydrate has shown adjuvant effect in immune responses against the gp120 protein of HIV-1(CN54). Also in a combination of two mucosal and two systemic vaccinations of mice, the study has found significant enhancement of both local and systemic antibodies as well as cytokine responses.
